Update Cycle 1
Hello, EarthPol Community!
We are excited to kick off Update Cycle #1 with a series of new features, mechanics, and quality-of-life improvements. This cycle focuses on balancing gameplay, adding unique systems, and resolving long-standing bugs. Below, we’ll break down everything coming to EarthPol in this update.
🎮 Inspiration and Ideas
This cycle was guided by three core goals:
- Balancing Gameplay – creating fairer systems that encourage competitive but fun experiences.
- Quality of Life – introducing mechanics that reduce frustration and enhance immersion.
- Bug Fixes! – tackling issues reported by the community to ensure smoother play.
🍺 Brewery System
Players can now master the art of brewing through a multi-step process:
- Brew alcoholic drinks that can actually make you drunk.
- Learn brewing steps such as fermenting, distilling, and aging.
- Master advanced recipes and create rare, high-difficulty drinks.
- Experience custom EarthPol-exclusive recipes that set our brewing apart.
🛡️ Town Edge Shield
Introducing a new system to prevent claim camping:
- A protective radius of 4 chunks around town borders.
- Within this radius, Keep Inventory is enabled, protecting your items upon death.
- This does not apply during SiegeWar.
- Works outside the edges of any town.
This ensures safer travel and discourages unfair border harassment.
⛓️ Spawn Trap Prevention
No more being trapped in endless loops at spawn:
- 8 Chunks of Protection around spawn.
- Movement between chunks is tracked—moving out and back in counts as two steps.
- Keep Inventory lasts until the 9th chunk.
- Messages will update you on remaining protection, or you can silence them with
/protection hide.
This system guarantees that new and returning players can safely leave spawn areas.
⚓ Towny Ports Overhaul
We’ve modernized the TownyPorts plugin:
- Migrated old commands into the Towny system:
/portprice <town>→/t port price <town>/setportprice→/t set port price/port <town>→/t port <town>/t set port spawn- New Spawn Point System for ports.
- Co-Mayors and Assistants can now manage ports.
- A full guide is available on the website.
This overhaul makes port management easier and more integrated with Towny.
🏛️ Mayor Succession & Automatic Town Sale System
A major governance update:
- Rule 5.2 (Stewardship of Famous and Populated Areas) has been removed.
- If a mayor is inactive for 30 days, leadership passes to a recently active assistant.
- If all residents are inactive for 30 days, the town is automatically put up for sale.
- No more immediate ruin—the town is preserved for future players.
- Town sale prices are calculated with this formula:
(Plot Cost × Number of Plots) + Town Balance + Per Resident Cost + Town Start Cost
This system keeps towns alive and prevents sudden collapses of player projects.
⚔️ Siege Teleport
Siege warfare is now more strategic:
- New commands:
/siegetp setspawn– Set Siege Spawn within your claims./siegetp removespawn– Remove from anywhere./siegetp tp <siege>– Teleport directly to your Siege Spawn.- Siege Spawn can be set by:
- Attacking King, Co-leaders, and Generals
- Defending Mayor
- Teleporting grants spawn protections but also nerfs for 10 seconds.
No more moving nation spawns for battles—this system creates focused and fairer sieges.
🪣 New Cauldron Mechanics
Two new uses for cauldrons:
- If a player is standing in a filled cauldron, you can collect their “bath water”, which will be quality graded.
- Right-clicking a filled cauldron with powdered concrete will convert it into solid concrete, reducing the water level.
This adds both immersion and functionality to cauldrons.
⚙️ Quality of Life Changes
We’ve added multiple small but impactful improvements:
- A horn sound plays to all players in a Siege Zone when a Battle Session begins.
- Chorus Fruit is disabled in Siege Zones.
- mcMMO Fishing XP is now better balanced against other skills.
- Advancement required to unlock all custom recipes.
- Server-wide religion stats available with
/pantheon. - Wither Skulls and Shulker Shells are now part of the loot pool—you’ll need to find them.
🌍 Wrapping Up
Update Cycle #1 is just the beginning. These systems aim to balance, innovate, and improve EarthPol for both new and veteran players. As always, we encourage your feedback to refine these features in future cycles.
